The California State Senator who represents Antioch, the city where Phillip and Nancy Garrido allegedly held South Lake Tahoe girl Jaycee Lee Dugard captive, has written a letter to the state’s Department of Corrections, demanding answers regarding the case.  In the letter, Senator Mark DeSaulnier asks for a “full investigation of Garrido’s supervision.”  Garrido was paroled after serving 10 years of a 50-year sentence for a previous kidnapping conviction.

Garrido allegedly held Dugard, who he abducted from the bus stop of her ski resort town in 1991, for over 18 years in a backyard compound at his Antioch home.  He met regularly with his parole officer, but his secret was not discovered until six weeks ago.  Senator DeSaulnier wants a report from the department to make sure “this horrific matter” does not happen again.  Currently, the state Inspector General is investigation how the Corrections Department handled the case.  That report is due in the next month.
