Snow in the forecast for Mammoth Mountain on Monday night

Snow will hit Mammoth Mountain on Monday night.  The snow elevation will be 8,000 feet, which is Goldilocks just right for covering the entire mountain.  On Tuesday, the snow level will raise to 9,000 feet, which will be Goldilocks for the upper elevation, filling in the big mountain stuff that needs it the most.  Mammoth can thank its higher than normal elevation, as this storm that is about to blast the entire Northwest on south to Cali will bring mostly rain to other spots.  For Mammoth it’ll be a nice contribution to the ongoing process of opening the top.  Yes, Loveland and Arapahoe Basin in Coloroad are both open, but my ski season starts when the top opens.  That was a ridiculously early November 5th last year for Mammoth.

Signs are once again good.  El Nino and Mammoth are lovers with benefits for us.
