A new ‘igloo’ resort opening in Switzerland will give its visitors the experience of a lifetime – what it feels like living as an Eskimo. Well, maybe not exactly, but pretty darn close.

The Whitepod Resort is an exclusive mountain resort that sits on top of the Swiss Alps in Valais, Switzerland, and consists of 15 tents, or ‘pods’, which surround the central alpine chalet that houses a breakfast room, a lounge bar, two restaurants and a spa with a Turkish bath. The resort will open on December 15.

The pods are 40-square-meter igloos made with polyester and have been constructed with futuristic isolation components. They lie on wooden platforms and offer panoramic views of Lake Geneva.

The resort also consists of a four mile area of ski slopes that are accessible by two T-bar lifts. Guests can enjoy a range of winter activities such as snowshoeing, dog sledding and cross-country skiing.
