While there are certainly some of us who are waiting for the rainy season to get going, right now, the rain is not so welcome for the residents of areas affected by the Sheep Fire. There is a significant threat of mudslides for the areas that were burned. “Flood control and forestry officials believe the threat to homes is very minimal. More likely are mud and ash flows that could block the winding stretch of Lone Pine Canyon Road that serves as a back entrance to Wrightwood. Wrightwood, which is home to about 6,000 residents, was most threatened by the fire. The mountain ski town is not threatened by mudslides because it sits above the burn area.”

OK, so the town isn’t threatened, but hopefully that back entrance won’t be affected either. Let’s hope access to Mountain High Resort isn’t blocked, but more importantly, let’s hope no homes are seriously affected by mudslides.
