A couple resorts in Colorado have already opened for the 2009-2010 winter season. The Killington Resort in Vermont hopes to join the party as it began blowing snow early Tuesday morning.

Crews began making snow at 1 a.m. this morning with a number of guns going on Killington’s Reason Trail in the Northridge Area. Resort officials expect to have a full arsenal of snow guns going on Rime and Upper Great Northern Trails by later this afternoon.

The weather also cooperated with four inches of new snow at Killington Peak and 1.5 inches at the baseline of the resort.

Resort spokesperson Tom Horrocks said snowmaking will continue for the next four to six days as overnight temperatures are forecasted to be in mid-20s to mid-teens.
