Superbabe of Snow Lara Gut has suffered a setback in her return from a dislocated hip.  The 18-year-old phenom is an upcoming challenger to the throne of Lindsey Vonn.  Although before any palace coup can be planned on Gut’s part, she’ll have to recover from further surgery on her hip.

Gut returned from the hospital on Tuesday and will not be back on skis until sometime in January.  The Swiss skier was injured September 29 while training giant slalom on the glacier at Saas-Fee and had to be airlifted off the mountain.  She initally had arthroscopic surgery after her hip was reset.  Unfortunately, further surgery was needed.

At age 17, Gut won a silver medal in downhill at last season’s World Championships and was the only racer to seriously challenge Lindsey Vonn, who won gold.

Gut is already pushing the rehab along as it now becomes a race to be ready for the Winter Olympics.  “I managed to move with the crutches and hope in the next few days to be able to start some exercises,” she said.
