As it was last year, the 2010 Salomon Freeride Championships will again be held in the Taos Ski Valley area in New Mexico. The dates of this season’s event are March 10-13. Also as it was last year, the event will be a Freeride World Qualifier. That means that the athletes will compete for points and eligibility to participate in the four events of the Freeride World Tour. Those would be: The Nissan Russian Adventure in Sochi, the Nissan Tram Face in Squaw Valey, the Nissan Freeride de Chamonix in, um, Chamonix, and the Nissan Xtreme in Verbier, Switzerland.

Chief of race Tom Winter said, “There’s no doubt that this is the largest and most prestigious event in New Mexico and it has also become one of the most important events on the freeride circuit in North America. Our partnership with the Freeride World Tour has allowed us to create an event of global significance and we expect this year’s field to showcase some of the top athletes in the world when it comes to skiing and snowboarding.”
