It is the photo and interview that media outlets around the world have been clamoring for, and PEOPLE magazine has it: Lake Tahoe kidnapping victim Jaycee Lee Dugard is on the cover, in a new picture that is the first that the outside world has seen of her since she was abducted in 1991 from her ski resort town.  Dugard and her two daughters, Angel, 15, and Starlit, 11, whom she fathered with her alleged kidnapper, Phillip Garrido, have been living in seclusion since they were released from captivity about six weeks ago.

And for the first time, Dugard has spoken about what she went through in that backyard compound, and how she is working on her future with her daughters.  She tells the magazine that she rides horses, cooks meals, and is even thinking about working on a book.  She also tells PEOPLE that she is “so happy to be back with [her] family.”  The recovery for her and her daughters will be long, but so far, it seems that they are off to a good start.  To see more exclusive pictures, pick up the new issue of PEOPLE on newsstands Friday.
