Online dating for skiers

Online dating has been around long enough—and given enough people positive results—that it’s no longer embarrassing to say “Oh I met him/her online”. So many people are now members of match.com, eharmony.com, J Date and others, that it almost seems passé to find a date at a bar these days. Oh by the way, for those of you who don’t know, J Date is an online dating service for Jews (yea!)

It’s not surprising then, that there’s an online dating service devoted to skiers and snowboarders. skiingpersonals.com/”>Skiingpersonals.com brings together single guys and gals from all over the country who all have 2 things in common—they’re looking for dates, and they love to ride the powder. Imagine you’re on a date with someone you met, let’s say, through a friend. You’re 45 minutes in to a wonderful dinner. Everything is going smoothly. You’re sharing laughs, you realize you both love Stephen King novels and cherry flavored ICEE’s, and you’re thinking…hey, maybe this can go somewhere. And then it hits you like a Burton to the cranium. The person sitting across from you hates to ski. The only thing they hate more than skiing is snowboarding.

Slap. In. The. Face. You’ve just wasted this whole evening. The good people at skiingpersonals.com have clearly thought this scenario out and are looking to make better use of people’s precious time. Now, when you meet a person on this site, you already know you share a love for the mountains, so now all you have to do is look forward to your first ski trip together—riding during the day, and reading Stephen King at night while sipping on cherry ICEE’s.
