The story of the Heene family from Fort Collins, Colorado, and their balloon project has made headlines around the world, and now they are accused of carrying out a hoax, with their 6-year old son caught in the middle.  Their attorney, David Lane, spoke to CNN today and said that the family is “not running from the law” and deserves the presumption of innocence.  Authorities are contending that the Heenes staged the incident last Thursday, where they claimed that their son, Falcon, was trapped in their homemade flying-saucer-like contraption.

The family appeared on CNN’s “Larry King Live” show after the incident on Thursday, and Falcon was asked in the interview why he did not come out from hiding when his parents were looking for him.  ” You guys said we did this for the show,” the 6-year old said.  The Heenes said that Falcon was confused, but authorities have searched their home for computer and phone records.  Lane also says that Richard Heene will probably be charged by this Wednesday, and that he will plead not guilty.
