Windham Ski Resort in the northern Catskill Mountains has upgraded its snowmaking system for the upcoming 2009-2010 winter season.

Staffers have added three new airless fan guns on the lower mountain runs where high traffic occurs and also added snow guns in areas that have been problematic in the past. The resort also rebuilt some 35 fan guns in order to improve the quality and quantity of snow.

New electrical service installed on the mountain will provide the necessary power to the increasing number of fan guns.

“These days, snowmaking isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity to remain competitive, and these upgrades will allow Windham to keep up with changing snowmaking technology,” said Ted Davis, Windham’s director of mountain operations.

Windham is located just two hours from the New York metro area and offers over 700 acres of world-class skiing and snowboarding.
