Salomon Extreme Freeride Championships at Taos Ski Resort

The 2010 Salomon Extreme Freeride Championships at Taos running from March 10 – 13 will be open for athlete registration starting November 2. This premiere big-mountain event is New Mexico’s largest and most prestigious ski and snowboard competition, attracting athletes from around the world and featuring a $12,000 purse.
 
For 2010, the Salomon Extreme Freeride Championships at Taos returns as a Freeride World Qualifier (FWQ) event. As a qualifying venue for the FWT, the Taos event will allow athletes to gain points and become eligible to compete in the FWT’s four showcase events: The Nissan Russian Adventure (Sochi, Russia Ski Resort), Nissan Tram Face (Squaw Valley Ski Resort USA), Nissan Freeride de Chamonix (Chamonix Ski Resort, France) and Nissan Xtreme (Verbier, Ski Resort, Switzerland). Taos Ski Resort also joins an elite group of ski resorts from Italy and Norway to Austria and Slovakia as a FWT Qualifying event.
 
“We expect to host some of the best big-mountain skiers and snowboarders in the world,” says Taos’ Alejandro Blake. “I’d advise athletes to register early and spectators should plan their vacations now if they want take advantage of seeing some of the worlds best compete in Taos Ski Resort.”
