Tired of the same ol’ hot cocoa or spiked hot cocoa after a long, hard day of skiing? Not that there’s anything wrong with those delicious beverages…but you definitely have to have variety. Especially if you’re the one throwing the apres party. Here’s some good advice on making some good drinks for a good apres ski party (can I fit the word “good” into that sentence again?). Thanks to eHow!

“Things You’ll Need:

  • Unsweetened apple juice
  • Unsweetened pineapple juice
  • Cranberry juice cocktail
  • Ground nutmeg
  • whole cloves
  • butterscotch chips
  • miniature peppermint patties
  • peanut butter chips
  • assortment of teas, including herbal
  • honey
  • apple cider
  • non-alcoholic peach schnapps
  • large pan
  • bowls
  • kettle or large pan

    Make Alcoholic Drinks

  1. Step 1

Make hot buttered rum by the batch. Use 18 ounces or light or dark rum, 12 teaspoons brown sugar, 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 1 tablespoon vanilla, 12 cinnamon sticks and 12 pats of butter (or margarine). Mix all ingredients except butter and cinnamon sticks. Put in a bottle. When you’re ready to serve, pour 2 shot glasses of the mixture into a mug. Add boiling water and stir with a cinnamon stick. Top with pat of butter. The mixture makes 12 mugs.

  2. Step 2

Treat your guest to an Irish coffee. You need 1-1/2 ounces Irish whiskey, sugar (to taste), steaming coffee and whipped cream. Combine the whiskey, coffee and sugar and stir. Top with whipped cream.

  3. Step 3

Keep it simple with a snow bunny. Just mix 1-1/2 Shots of Triple Sec into a cup of cocoa.

  4. Step 4

Try a coffee with Irish cream. Just pour a shot of Irish cream in a cup and add the coffee.

  5. Step 5

Mix some grog. Before skiing, combine 12 cubes of sugar, the juice of 3 lemons, and 18 ounces of light rum. Store in a bottle in the refrigerator. Set out the bottle when the party begins and use 2 shots for each mug. Fill the mug with boiling water and stir.

  6. Step 6

Enjoy your guests and have a peppermint patty. Just mix 1 shot white creme de menthe, 1 shot white cream de cocoa and a cup of cocoa. Mix in a mug and top with whipped cream

  7. Make Non-Alcoholic Drinks

  8. Step 1

Serve some hot apple cider to those that don’t drink. Add non-alcoholic peach schnapps and a pinch of cinnamon to make a Hot Peach Cobbler. Stir with cinnamon sticks.

  9. Step 2

Treat your guests to hot chocolate. Have additions for those cups. Put out miniature peppermint patties, whipped cream, butterscotch chips and peanut butter chips and let them make their own variations.

  10. Step 3

Lay out an assortment of tea bags, including traditional teas and herbal blends. Have sliced lemons available, cinnamon sticks, sugar and honey.
