The Squaw Valley Freeride Freestyle Team recently announced that they will be offering 8 scholarships for local students during the  2009-2010 Winter Season. If offered one of these prestigious scholarships, the individual will receive a Squaw Valley season pass, and full-time access to team training.

The team currently specializes in four disciplines of freestyle skiing: Moguls, Halfpipe, Slopestyle, and Big Mountain Freeskiing. During the winter, the team practices nearly 6 days each week at the resort. Off-season training isn’t ignored, as riders continue their progression using dry-land methods, or traveling to summer camps on various glaciers.

The intention of providing this team outlet is to allow Squaw Valley Freeride Freestyle Team members to continue the success started by their alumni, who have gone on to the highest levels of competition such as X-Games and the Olympics.

In order to become eligible for these scholarships, students must be enrolled in grades 7-12 anywhere in the Lake Tahoe basin or Truckee area. All applications are due to the team by November 1st.
