Austrian ski star Nicole Hosp out for season

The 2007 World Cup Champion Nicole Hosp is out for the season due to a tough crash at the Audi FIS World Cup opener in Soelden, Austria, today. The Austrian favorite was airlifted to Innsbruck where she had immediate surgery to repair ligament tears in her right knee. Apparently Hosp lost control and caught an edge high up on the GS course, and slid head first down the mountain for about 150 feet.

Hosp had recently recovered from a left knee injury, and looked strong for the 2009/2010 season. Unfortunately, it looks as if the superstar skier won’t be ready to return to the World Cup tour, at least not before the Olympics in Vancouver. The Ski Channel will keep you updated on Hosp’s recovery and progress.
