1992 Olympic Gold Medalist, Donna Weinbrecht a New Jersey native attended the Giant Stadium concert of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band this month.  Springsteen who turned 60 this past month woo’d the crowd by running into the pit during “Hungry Heart.”

As reported early, Springsteen had to cancel his concert tonight in Kansas City because of a death in the “immediate” family.  His motorcade of 6 limosines and suburbans just left the Intercontinental Hotel in Kansas City headed for the airport to go back to where is presumed New Jersey.  Details are to come on which member of the family passed away.

Springsteen is a favorite on headphones all over the mountain and is loved by the ski industry.  At Diamond Peak this year, they had a “Bruce Spring Skiing” Day where there were $1 dollar lift tickets for everyone named Bruce.

“I bought ‘The Rising’ right after 911,” said US Ski Team Member Stacey Cook.  “He keeps mind at ease when I am in the pitstall line waiting to race and he is with me every race.  He is such a great person and a great citizen.”

At The Ski Channel, our thoughts are with the Springsteen family.
