Defending World Cup champion Svindal most likely to miss next race

Aksel Lund Svindal, defending World Cup Champion, bruised his leg pretty badly earlier this month in a training run in Saas Fee, Switzerland. The injury was bad enough to force him to ski off the course last weekend in Soelden during his second GS run.

Aksel, who also won the overall WC title in 2007, is staying in Oslo for a few days to have his leg checked out. He said that he would most likely be out for at least a couple weeks. That would make it difficult for him to compete in the second race on the WC circuit, the slalom in Levi, Finland on November 15th.

It’s still up in the air. Maybe he’ll heal quickly and be back up earlier than expected. We wish him good health.
