If you’re looking for the epitome of a successful student-athlete school, look no further than The Stratton Mountain School in Stratton Mountain, Vermont. On the one hand, the school breeds podium-worthy athletes such as 2006 silver medalist snowboarder Lindsey Jacobellis and medal sweeper Ross “The Boss” Powers. More than 100 alumni of the school are named to U.S. National Teams, and 30 are Olympians.

On the other hand, Stratton Mountain School breeds hordes of ivy league students who go on to tackle challenging and stimulating professions. Headmaster Christopher G. Kaltsas: “The combination of highly qualified teachers and coaches with experience at the highest level of competition gives our student athletes an edge. SMS alumni have not only matriculated at Dartmouth, Middlebury, Brown and Williams, they have also achieved success in all manner of professions, from medicine to Wall Street.” OK SMS   alumni, fix Wall Street, will you?

The athletes at SMS are treated to world class facilities as well. Some of these include a 3,000 square-foot Skate Park and Sports Science Lab. The lab is used to provide data to coaches who use it to tailor specific workouts for the athletes. Mike Morin, Alpine Program Director: “The lab tests athletes improvement and associates it with skiing results. It directly links improved power from our conditioning program, to results on the hill.”

Oh, also, if you go to Stratton Mountain School, you could end up on “Dancing With The Stars”. Well, at least that’s what happened to Louie Vito. He attended SMS after moving to Vermont from Ohio. Now he’s a television phenom. See what SMS can do??
