Well, it looks like this early snowfall, El Nino type weather patterns and early ski resort openings are happening all over this great big world of ours. Over the Halloween weekend, Mt. Norquay in Alberta, Canada opened up, making it the second Canadian ski area to be open in October (behind Canada Olympic Park in Calgary).

Norquay is only open on the weekends until December 5th, but it’s set up to welcome park athletes as well as alpine folks. Dan Markham of Ski Banff-Lake Louise Sunshine: “It’s great to be skiing in October. It was a really fun way to celebrate Halloween. We’re excited to be open already, and there’ll be more terrain available this coming weekend.”

The Canadian World Cup stop will take place at the Lake Louise Ski Area, which will open this Friday. The World Cup hits the area on November 28-29 for the Men’s races and December 4-6 for the Women’s.
