Cubicle relief: Denver man goes to great lengths to keep job

Well, it’s hump day. Get through today and the weekend seems a lot closer. If you’re sitting in your cubicle or at your desk right now and need some quick entertainment, then enjoy this story for today’s episode of cubicle relief. We  always love writing about one of the great ski states, Colorado. Here’s another reason why.

A 27-year old man from Denver was skateboarding to his job at Blockbuster video recently when fell off his board and ripped his work pants. He could no longer wear them, but he was afraid of losing his job if he showed up to work without the proper, uniform-issued pants on. Take a couple seconds to think what you would do in that situation.

Got it? OK. Now, here’s what he did. He decided to stab himself in the leg. He then came into work with the bloody leg and the ripped up pants claiming he was attacked by three Hispanic males. If that’s not a brilliant idea, then I’m not the best looking employee at The Ski Channel (high five).

When investigators watched video surveillance of the area where he said he was attacked, clearly they found no evidence of an attack. The man then had to explain to everyone how “he did not want to lose his job so he stabbed himself in the leg.” That’s a quote from the arrest affidavit.

He was named in a criminal complaint with 2 misdemeanors, including filing a false report and obstructing police. He also won my vote for best story of the day. That’s his mugshot below.
