Snow skiing is a lifestyle for the nine women on the K2 Alliance team who spend weeks on snow each season testing new products and advising K2 how to design and market skis for women. On December 12th, the Alliance skiers and the public will have the opportunity to dedicate their turns on the slopes to save lives by raising funds for breast cancer research through the 2nd Annual Pink Chase event at Keystone, Colorado.

The global Pink Chase event is open to all women alpine and telemark skiers and snowboarders.  Beginning mid September, participants are invited to register by forming teams of three women of any age, and raise money for the cause.

On December 12th at Keystone, CO, teams will compete against other women teams by strategizing ways to ski the most vertical.  Teams must determine the best approach with the access of multiple lifts; manage lift lines, and locate the various checkpoints around the mountain to earn vertical bonuses.  Prizes will be rewarded that evening for various efforts including recording as much vertical as possible in the six hour time span, and fundraising for the cause.

The goal is to raise as much money as possible for breast cancer research while having a tremendous amount of fun skiing and riding on the mountain with their friends and the K2 Alliance. To create a truly global fundraiser, fundraising will take place in Canada and Europe from September through October.  Teams who raise the most money for breast cancer research in Europe and Canada will be invited to participate in the Pink Chase in Colorado.

Proceeds from the on-snow and on-line fundraising efforts will benefit four different breast cancer research organizations. Since 2000, K2 has contributed more than $1 million to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) and similar organizations focused on the cause. Together, K2 and the BCRF are dedicated to improving women’s health through recreation, athletics, and research, and finding a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime. In addition to an annual $75,000 donation, all of the contributions from the K2 Pink Chase will be donated directly to each country’s sponsoring foundation. The Breast Cancer Research Foundation and Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation will be the beneficiaries of the North American fundraising efforts.
