There were doubts. There were concerns. There was a smattering of nay-sayers. However, this morning, we’ve received the final verdict from Killington Ski Resort officials. They will indeed open this Saturday! Hurrah! The weather in Vermont and the snowmaking conditions had not been perfect this week or the previous week, causing the resort to put out a statement of ambivalence regarding whether or not they would open as planned this Saturday. But, fear no more you beautiful Vermonters. Head to Killington this weekend, represent Burlington by listening to some Phish while you ski, and have a great time.

Two lifts will be open giving you access to four trails on Saturday and Sunday from 10-3:30. This is just a weekend thing folks. They’re closing for the week of November 9th, and will hopefully reopen again next Saturday the 14th if Mother Nature decides to smile upon us. Early-season lift tickets right now are at $49 for adults (ages 19-64), $44 for Young Adults (ages 13-18) and Seniors (ages 65-69) and $39 for Juniors (ages 7-12) and Super Seniors (ages 70+). Super senior? That doesn’t sound very flattering. At least their tickets are only 39 bucks. Super seniors are what we called kids in college who refused to leave. Van Wilder style.

Here’s a parting word from Killington’s President and General Manager Chris Nyberg: “The passion and commitment from our team has succeeded in utilizing all the tools available to them to provide our guests with this early-season opportunity. Over the next 24 hours, snowmaking operations will continue and snowcats will begin working the snow surface to provide our guests the best possible opening day conditions.”
