As TSC reported earlier this week, a new government report from the California’s Inspector General has indicated that South Lake Tahoe kidnapping victim Jaycee Lee Dugard initially defended her alleged kidnapper Phillip Garrido.  After several rounds of interviews, she finally admitted her true identity to officers.  Dr. Carole Lieberman, who is a forensic psychiatrist at UCLA, says that Dugard “was protecting Garrido out of fear, a distorted sense of loyalty, and a need to fell connected to the father of her children.”  In addition, she could have been concerned that her daughters could have found out the truth about their real father.  Dugard’s attorney has said that she will cooperate when the Garridos go to trial.
