Winners of American Birkebeiner Young Skier Grants Announced

The American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation has awarded $12,000 to thirteen youth cross country ski programs around the country.  These grants support the creation and expansion of youth skier programs, the purchase of rental equipment, ski hats, and uniforms, as well as helping to reduce the cost of travel costs for participants.  The American Birkebeiner will celebrate its 37th anniversary on February 25-27, and more than 7,500 skiers are expected to register for the several races that will go on over the anniversary weekend. This year’s grant recipients are:

• Burt Township School, Grand Marais, MN
• Drummond Telemarkers Ski Club, Drummond, WI
• Iola Winter Sports Club, Iola, WI
• Minnesota Youth Ski League, St. Paul, MN
• Northern Illinois Nordic, Villa Park, IL
• Peak Nordic Ski Club, Pewaukee, WI
• Pennsylvania Cross Country Skiers Assoc., Munhall, PA
• Snowflake Junior Ski Club, Westby, WI
• Spooner Youth Ski League, Spooner, WI
• Unalakleet Nordic Ski Program, Unalakleet, AK
• West High Cross-Country Ski Booster Club, Anchorage, AK
