The court-appointed attorney for alleged kidnapper Nancy Garrido has been removed from the case of Lake Tahoe kidnapping victim Jaycee Lee Dugard.  The change happened last Thursday in a secret hearing, where her former attorney, Gilbert Maines, was ordered to be relieved.  The day before the hearing took place, a court order said “the court is in receipt of confidential evidence,” but it is not know what that evidence is.

There has been no official word from the district attorney or Maines, but a veteran attorney and prosecutor said it appears that Garrido wanted her attorney removed.  Garrido is charged along with her husband, Phillip in the 1991 abduction and subsequent rape and captivity of Dugard.
