Race to the Cup tour launches snowboarders to the World Cup

This Wednesday in Copper Mountain, Colorado, the NorAm Race to the Cup Tour begins. This snowboarding tour acts as a launching pad for many athletes to move onto the World Cup. Explains U.S. Snowboarding Program Manager Abbi Nyberg, “The Race to the Cup is the premier NorAm alpine snowboard tour in the U.S. This tour is the springboard for athletes to advance to the World Cup tour. The Race to the Cup has launched athletes like Justin Reiter and Michelle Gorgone on to World Cup podiums. In its eighth season we are looking forward to another great year full of racing at some of the top venues in the U.S.”

Some of the other athletes set to compete include Tyler Jewel, Adam Smith and Vic Wild. They’re all fighting for a podium spot finish and a $12,000 purse.

Here are the dates and locations of the entire tour:

  • Nov. 11-12 Copper, CO
  • Dec. 11-12 Steamboat Springs, CO
  • Feb. 4-5 Mt. Bachelor, OR
  • March 25-26 Steamboat Springs, CO (finals)
