Support the skiers with the World Cup Dreams foundation

Many people don’t realize how difficult ski racing is because the great athletes make it look as easy as jumping rope. Wait, actually, that’s really hard…they make it look as easy as eating pizza. (Better.) Many people also don’t realize how difficult it is financially for these athletes. Folks assume since these are elite athletes, they’re doing just fine. Not the case many times. Several amazing athletes can use the help of financial aid, and the World Cup Dreams foundation is there for support. It was founded four years ago by former U.S. Ski Team members Bryon Friedman and Erik Schlopy, and in that time they’ve raised over $100,000 for the cause.

The non-profit WCD is hosting a fundraising event in Vail, Colorado this coming Friday, November 13th. It’s called “Evening With the National Alpine Ski Team” and it’ll be held in The Arrabelle at Vail Square in the newly redesigned Lionshead Village. For a $200 donation, you can join the party and help support your favorite ski racers. With the donation, the eveining includes a three-course dinner, silent and live auctions. Some items in the live auction include an autographed Lindsey Vonn race suit, sky box tickets at a Colorado Rockies game and much more. Here’s WCD Executive Director, Jennifer Vance: “Our goal this year is to utilize these fundraisers and some private donations to find funding so that we can support the athletes throughout the season, so for all of them that need to find their own funding we are going to do our best to support as many of then as we’re able.”
