After the women’s ski jumpers appeal failed yesterday, the International Olympic Commit

tee (IOC) says it is pleased with the decision that bars them from participating in the Vancouver Olympics, and that the Games will now proceed as planned.  The committee had voted in 2006 to not allow them at the 2010 Games, as they said the sport had not specific requirements.  However, in a statement to The Canadian Press, the IOC also said that it “remains open to considering its possible inclusion in the Games following Vancouver and support the continuing development of the sport.”
