Looking for a convenient way to get from Denver to Winter Park this season? Say no more and hop aboard the Rio Grande Scenic Ski Train. The president of the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad is Ed Ellis, and he’s telling us to prepare for the train to run from December 27th to March 28th, leaving from Denver’s Union Station and heading out to Winter Park. Ticket prices right now are set at $49 for a round-trip in coach or $99 for a round-trip premium ticket. A premium ticket gets you an upper level seat in the dome cars which offer food and drink service. There will also be a limited number of season passes sold for $600. The train “season” should be about 45 to 50 days.

Winter Park is offering a joint package with the train. You can get a round-trip train ticket, overnight lodging and a lift ticket for $139 a day. Here’s Rob Perlman, the resort’s vice president of sales and marketing: “The Ski Train has a 69-year tradition that we are continuing. It is a cultural icon and a rich part of Colorado history.”
