According to a report from Sports Illustrated, the IOC (International Olympic Committee) is pleased that the court upheld their decision to bar women ski jumpers from competing in the 2010 Vanouver Winter Olympic Games. The women could appeal to Canada’s Supreme Court, but with the Olympics just a few short months away, there simply isn’t enough time for that.

The IOC gave a statement to the Canadian press: “We understand the desire of athletes to compete at the highest level and we will continue to follow the development of women’s ski jumping. We remain open to considering its possible inclusion in the games following Vancouver and support the continuing development of the sport. As the lower court noted, the IOC has continued to demonstrate by its actions its support for women athletes and their participation in the Olympic Games.”
