Lake Tahoe powder alert: storms this week should bring good snow

The National Weather Service in Reno is expecting two storms to hit the Lake Tahoe region this week, the stronger one being later in the week. Tuesday’s storm should just bring some rain and a few inches of snow, but come Thursday and Friday, we should see at least a foot of snow at lake level, and several more feet in the mountains.

Here’s a detailed forecast, courtesy of the Tahoe Tribune:

Today: Sunny, with a high near 50. Southwest wind around 5 mph.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 26. South wind around 5 mph.

Tuesday: A slight chance of rain after 10 a.m. Snow level 7,300 feet. Increasing clouds, with a high near 49. South wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Tuesday Night: Snow. Low around 27. Southwest wind between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent.

Wednesday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41. West wind between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23.

Thursday: A slight chance of rain. Snow level 6600 feet. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Thursday Night: Snow. Cloudy, with a low around 29.

Friday: Snow. Cloudy, with a high near 33.

Friday Night: A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 36.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 24.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 46.
