Smith Optics adds Frenchman Kevin Rolland to international freeski team

Kevin Rolland was recently added to the Smith Optics International Team. Rolland, at the young age of only 19 years old, has already earned victories such as the 2009 Park City World Superpipe Championship.

Rolland and his fellow Frenchman, Xavier Bertoni, were among the new breed of French freestyle skiers breaking into the major contest ranks last season during events such as the X-Games and US Freeskiing Open.

Smith’s Team Manager said, “Kévin is the new rising star of freestyle skiing  and he is very happy to join the Smith Freeski Team.”

Some of Rolland’s impressive results in 2008/2009:

  • Winner of the Halfpipe World Cup in La Plagne, France
  • Halfpipe World Champion in Inawashiro, Japan
  • 2nd Place at the Nippon Freeskiing Open in Joetsu Kokusaï, Japan
  • 8th place finalist at the X-Games/Super Pipe in Aspen, USA.
  • 1st place at the World Cup in Park City, USA.
  • Winner of the Tignes Airwaves team event, France.
  • 3rd place at World Cup in the Contamines, France
