Salt Lake City mountain hikers safe

If you needed a reminder why to mountain trek safely…two Utah men were hiking in Little Cottonwood Canyon near Salt Lake City on Sunday. They were inexperienced and ill-prepared. They ended up getting lost in the mountains, and they definitely were not prepared for the cold. They found two rocks on a ledge to wedge in between and stood there all night on Sunday night, taking turns sleeping for 15 minutes at a time. The men, from Sandy, Utah, were rescued by helicopter yesterday. The process was complicated though. The helicopter arrived on Sunday but was unable to pick them up. The rescue team sent down gloves, hats and blankets to help the hikers get through the night, but it wasn’t until yesterday that the hikers were actually saved.

Just a friendly reminder from The Ski Channel to always be prepared when going up into the mountains, no matter what the activity…
