The nose gear of a United States Coast Guard airplane collapsed as it landed at Eagle County Regional Airport, at approximately 11:30am Tuesday morning. The reason for the gear’s malfunction is not yet known.

The crew of five were undergoing training operations during the incident, according to Kris Friel, communications director for Eagle County.

No one was injured in the incident.

The runway the affected aircraft landed remains closed, however the other airport runways are open. Airport crews are working on moving the aircraft from off the runway and checking for possible debris. Friel said he believes the runway will re-open this afternoon.
