12 ski tunes to blast to ensure you finally stomp that elusive double cork

Contrary to what you might expect, I don’t just only write about the latest happenings of the ski industry, I actually participate in the ski lifestyle. By actually skiing, like a lot. Basically every chance I get. Like in the picture above.

In particular, I fall into the category of what’s known as a “park rat” most of the time. Maybe it’s a bi-product of growing up at Seven Springs, located just outside Pittsburgh, PA, with its whopping 700 vertical feet, or maybe it’s just what I like to do. Sure I will ski powder when it dumps, I even dabbled in traditional alpine races two years ago with some success, while on my college team.

But in all honesty, there is no better feeling while skiing then that of stomping that new trick. In fact, the more scared you are before attempting and then subsequently landing the move, the better.

As pro skier John Spriggs so eloquently says in Poorboyz’s film “Every Day is a Saturday, “New tricks are probably the scariest, but the best feeling thing to do.”

But how does one actually muster up the courage to learn a new trick? Some might argue in favor of such established techniques such as training on trampolines or foam pits, skiing with people better then you, or studying film. While these are all good ideas, sometimes even that isn’t enough. Sometimes you just need a little extra boost, and for me, that thing is a good song. A jam that gives me goosebumps, and fills me with adrenaline just listening to the first bars of the song.

Without further adieu, I bring you my short, but sweet list of songs that will hopefully be your key to putting down that new trick***.

Feel free to leave your own favorites in the comments box.
