You take two brisk steps and launch your gear into the basket…poles on top…you take one big step up into the cabin…the other guys are pretending to be too cool to smile…the rotors start turning…the smaller tail rotor starts spinning in a high pitch…it is like a piccolo piercing through the orchestra…this trips conductor has ear protection on and is playing with switches on the roof…you think back to leaving that board meeting early…you think back to the negotiation with your wife…then in one instant gravity loses out to modern engineering…and you my friend are doing the coolest thing our planet might have to offer…heli-skiing!

Yes powder up to your waste, untracked lines forever…you would be hard pressed to find much on Earth cooler than going heli-skiing.  But for those few days you get to go, doing it right is paramount.  To make sure your descretionary time is put to the best use, SNOW magazine has teamed up with the best heli operators in the country for ‘How to Heli’ camps.

Some of the best ski areas in country, Sun Valley, Jackson Hole, Telluride, Sugar Bowl, Alpine Meadows and Whistler will have heli camps this season.  OK, we spoke to George Bush earlier today and he said that he planned to attack Canada and claim Whistler, but he didn’t get around to it.  So, we fee

l like we can count Whistler as a US ski resort.

For more info on this freakin cool deal, go to their website and sign up to go get waste deep!

Also, if you have not seen SNOW magazine, each is issue is like a gallery piece.  Pick up a copy and you can’t put it down.
