With the Holiday season rapidly approaching, and January just around the corner, many state’s governors have banded together to designate the month of January as “Learn a Snow Sport” month.

So far, governors from the great states of Utah, New York, Colorado, Washington, and Oregon have all made the official designation. In the coming weeks, more are expected to follow suit.

Learn a Snow Sport Month encourages all ages to participate in a snow sport if they have never tried and also encourages those previously involved to try an additional new snow sport. For official information about the movement, check out the details at the Learn a Snow Sport website.

As we’ve mentioned before, ski icon Glen Plake, serves as the national spokesperson for the initiative. Plake is more known as an extreme skier from the days of “Blizzard of ahhhs,” but spends much of the winter visiting smaller ski resorts, hyping the fun of snow sports while encouraging children and adults to take learn through lessons.
