Aspen Winternational World Cup course good to go

Yesterday, FIS approved the course in Aspen for the Winternational World Cup going down next weekend. They inspected the course last Thursday, and gave the confirmation of approval on Saturday. The women will race the GS on Saturday, November 28th and a slalom Sunday the 29th.

Mother Nature smiled a bit on Aspen over the weekend, dumping about two feet of snow on the region. Aspen is still set to open on Thanksgiving Day, November 26th.

Here’s U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association Vice President, Events Calum Clark: “We’ve had an extraordinary effort from the on-mountain team at Aspen. Snowmaking has gone very well and Aspen has five cats working almost non-stop positioning snow the entire length of the course. While the course has been fully prepared with manmade snow, the fresh snowfall over the weekend has really raised the enthusiasm of the crews who have been working around the clock to prepare the race course.”

Looking forward to Aspen’s opening and to seeing how Lindsey Vonn and the rest of our girls tackle the Winternational races!
