Due to some awesome snowfall in the past two weeks (about 63 inches), and more on the way, British Columbia’s Kicking Horse Ski Resort plans on opening up for business a bit early this year, on December 4th. Here’s Steve Paccagnan, President and General Manager of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort: “Opening day at Kicking Horse is always legendary with core skiers coming to enjoy deep powder and a great vibe. With more natural snow than any other resort in B.C. and Alberta, this year promises to be truly epic. We are ready for the world wide attention British Columbia is going to receive this winter season.”

That world wide attention he speaks of is the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. To build some momentum and excitement about the Games, Kicking Horse’s opening day will feature the second annual Dave Duncan First Gondola Charity Auction. The winning bid will get  the first Gondola ride of the season, complimentary lunch at the mountaintop Eagle’s Eye Restaurant and more. The auction will be happening in the lift line shortly before opening. Lift tickets will be offered at a 10% discount ($65.70 for adults).
