In New York ski racing takes center stage

The FIS Continental Cup Nordic Combined takes place in Lake Placid on December 19th and 20th as part of the road to Vancouver where the 2010 Winter Olympic games are taking place.   The Lake Placid events include ski jumping at the Olympic Jumping Complex at 10 AM followed by cross country ski racing at the 2 PM. 

There are 2 US spots up for grabs and a total of eleven US athletes will be in contention for those spots.  The team already contains 2009 World Champion Billy Demong Vermontville, New York and 4 time Olympian Todd Lodwick of Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

Many of the worlds best will be competing including Austia’s Felix Gottwald and Finlands Hannu Manninen.  Manninen has 3 Olympics medals and 45 World Cup victories.
