U.S. Ski Team athlete Andrew Weibrecht surprises at Lake Louise World Cup in 12th

It ain’t over ’til it’s over.

Just when we thought the U.S. Ski Team had one of their worst race days ever, 23 year-old Andrew Weibrecht came from behind and sped his way to 12th place. The Lake Placid native knows how to ski tough icy conditions (from long days spent at Whiteface, also known as Ice Face), and managed to ski his way up from a 62nd start position. Weibrech finished 1.1 seconds off of winner Didier Cuche, of Switzerland.

The top-fifteen finish is one of Weibrecht’s downhill career bests. He placed tenth at Beaver Creek in 2007.
