Ski resorts off to a great start

Reports are coming in from all over the country that there is already great skiing and snowboarding to be had.  Where do we start?  Ski resorts in Colorado, Utah, California, Idaho, Wyoming… even the East Coast got some fresh stuff this weekend.

“I just got back from Mammoth.  It was incredible,” said Randy Brown.  “They got over a foot of new snow and had tons of runs open.  I had more fresh tracks in deep pow than I have ever had in 25 years of skiing.  Amazing time.  I’m getting a pass.”  Crested Butte has got great coverage from their last gigantic dump and people stayed out overnight in sub-zero temperatures to get first chair on opening day.

Sun Valley was epic this weekend with bluebird days and fine coverage.  The Roundhouse Gondola certainly lived up to its expectations.  Stratton Mountain got snow this weekend just in time for their village rail jam which was a big hit.

Of course the upper Northwest has been drowning in snow in certain resorts and Alaska of course has been dumped on as well.  So it is as official as can possibly be…ski season is on like Donkey Kong!
