Lindsey Vonn was not stoked on Aspen ‘pond ice’

Watching the live telecast, one could only marvel at the impossible conditions that the women racers faced at Aspen this weekend.  Early season man-made snow, injected with water.  Was it the dry air of Aspen that caused the injection technique to backfire?  Whatever the physics of water, snow, and weather, Lindsey Vonn was not happy for herself and the home country fans who came to see America’s best women racers perform.

Vonn was quoted by the New York Daily News, “”It’s essentially like an ice pond.  It’s like ice skating, and it becomes – it’s not ski racing anymore.”

Vonn did not earn a second run in Saturday’s giant slalom and failed to finish her first slalom run on Sunday.
