Snowshoe Mountain will now open December 5th

The mountains of West Virginia have seen both smiles and frowns from Ms. Mother Nature lately. Milder temperatures this week have given officials of Snowshoe Mountain cause to delay opening day until this Saturday, December 5th.

The classic “rope drop” ceremony (their version of a ribbon-cutting) was supposed to be Friday, but the weather dictated that Saturday would be better. Some natural snowfall should hit the area by Thursday, and with the colder weather, snowmaking should really amp up by then.

Saturday, both Silver Creek and Snowshoe Basin will be open, giving you access to seven trails. More extensive terrain will open if there’s enough snow. Come on, Mother Nature! Give us some love!
