ATTN: 13 & under ski prodigies – K2 wants to make you the next Sean Pettit

It seems like forever ago that Sean Pettit burst onto the ski scene with his debut video section in Tanner Hall’s first movie, “WSKI106.” His split part with Kye Petersen (son of deceased big-mountain legend Trevor Petersen) effectively threw the concept of age out the window that season, ushering in a new generation of increasingly youthful freestyle skiers.

Now that Sean has grown up a bit, and actually started to fit into his Oakley-issued pants, he wants to provide an outlet for the next crop of skiing prodigies. Sean and his ski sponsor K2, have teamed up to launch the PG>13 video contest.

The contest will allow three youngsters the chance to become a full-fledged sponsored K2 Grom team member, contracts and all. Whether your forte is park, big-mountain, or urban, it doesn’t matter. Just make sure your either 13 or under, and submit your best edit possible to Newschoolers. The best part is, there will three chances to win, split over three monthly contest rounds. The first contest round will go live January 1st, 2010, and the contest will run until March 31st, 2010.

Pettit will be the judge and the jury to decide each of the three winners, and at the end of each contest segment, Pettit himself will announce the winning skier.

Lastly, for those with a desire to be a future ski team manager, K2 will be hooking up the filmer/editor of each round’s winning video with a free pair of skis for acting as a ‘scout.’

So get those cameras rolling, as the first round of the contest is only a month away!
