Blood profiling for skiers is a no nonsense dope fight

This year, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is cracking the whip on skiers who dig the dope. For the past seven years, they’ve been trying to establish a global blood profile monitoring program to ensure athletes aren’t juicing up. Russia has never cooperated until now, after some of their athletes got busted. Russia was an important country to be invovled though, considering it has one of the world’s 35 testing labs accredited by WADA.

Now, the blood profile rule goes like this. If the athlete’s blood changes significantly from one test to another, he can be disqualified immediately, even without a dope-positive test. We’ll see what kind of reports begin to emerge as the World Cup circuit continues and the Olympic games approach.
