Over 50 ski bums from across the world fought for the title of Sun Peaks Snow Bum in British Columbia, but alas, there could only be one winner. The prestigious title went to 29-year-old Thiago Lucena from Brazil. What did Mr. Lucena win? On, not much. Just  an all-inclusive, three month stay at the ski and snowboard resort. What did he have to do to get that? Submit an online video and write a paper conveying his love for skiing and his desire to bring more snow culture to Brazil.

Judges commented on how difficult it was to choose one winner from all the qualified contestants–who ranged from Australia, France, the US, Canada and more.

Christina Antoniak, Destination Marketing Manager with Tourism Sun Peaks said, “In the end, Thiago embodies everything we were looking for in the first Sun Peaks Snow Bum. From the originality of his video and his excitement following the contest, to his passion for skiing and desire to tell stories about Sun Peaks to the world, Thiago stood out to the judges. There’s no doubt Thiago will share entertaining and unique stories from Sun Peaks with the world and we look forward to following his adventures on the Snow Bum Blog.”

Lucena will begin his three month stay in January, and he’ll arrive to a giant party thrown in his honor. Not bad.
