U.S. Ski Team’s Julia Mancuso fifth in Lake Louise World Cup downhill training

It looks like 2006 Olympic Champion Julia Mancuso is back! The U.S Ski Team star and former Lange girl has been showing solid consistency this season, by her 13th place finish last weekend in the World Cup GS at Aspen, and again today, with a fifth place showing on the first day of World Cup downhill training at Lake Louise.

Mancuso is the top American, followed by World Cup Champion Lindsey Vonn in 8th. In 9th is teammate and Mammoth Mountain skier Stacey Cook

Perhaps most exciting is that Chelsea Marshall, sister of Cody, the injured U.S. Ski Team slalom specialist, finished tenth. Marshall stayed glued to her brother’s side, and essentially lived at the University Hospital in Salt Lake City this summer in her brother’s room during his recovery.

Marshall reluctantly left to train in New Zealand this summer, and went back to her brother as soon as she returned to Utah. She missed several days of dryland training, but clearly, nothing is stopping her.

Today’s results were only from official training, but we can’t wait to see what happens when the ladies bring the heat this weekend.
