Stratton Mountain Resort opens with a bang

Today marked a good day in Vermont. No, we’re not talking Ben and Jerry’s or Phish, we’re talking the opening of Stratton Mountain Resort! Skiers and snowboarders hit the slopes hard today starting at 9AM to celebrate the start of the season.

Here’s what boarder Nick Einstein thought: “It’s awesome. I’m really excited the mountain is open and pumped to be riding here.”

Mother Nature has certainly helped the cause lately. “The skiing is excellent. Edge to edge. Top to bottom, there’s a ton of snow out there,” noted Stratton Snow Reporter Chris Estes. “You ski down and hear the roar of the snow guns in the distance. It makes it feel like mid winter.”

VP of Operations Mike Quinn and his team worked their butt off to get the resort ready by today: “We’re really pleased with the conditions out there,” Quinn said. “Mountain Ops, Grooming and Snowmaking all did a fabulous job putting the mountain together. And it was a major advantage for us to open when we did, as it gave those guys an additional 36-48 hours to prepare for the big day. Rather than opening with one trail, we were able to open with 13 and service from top to bottom.”
