How to be discovered as a ski and snowboard filmmaker

So you’re a huge ski film fan. You’ve been watching them for years, studying them, wishing you were in them…wishing you made them. Now you can turn that dream into a reality. Submit your short film to The Beating Film Festival, happening at the Silverton Mountain Theater in Silverton, Colorado.

On Saturday, January 2nd, the Silverton Mountain Ski Area, an outdoor educational non-profit called SOLRC, Freeskier Magazine and Snowboard Magazine all come together to sponsor this film festival—designed to discover new talent.

Submit your five minute film for free online (on vimeo), but they ask for a donation of $20 per film–proceeds go to benefit Silverton Mountain’s High School scholarship ski and snowboard program. You can submit up to three films, and they can be shorter than five minutes if you want. The deadline to submit is December 26th, so get on it! The top ten films will be shown at the Silverton Mountain Miners Theater, and the winner will be decided based on creativity, entertainment value and quality.

Oh, and if you win? Eh, you don’t get much…just a free heli drop at Silverton Mountain.

Do it!
